MY APPROACH

I am Erik J. Gustke, MD., a psychiatrist in Chapel Hill, NC. My general approach is meeting clients where they are and trying to educate them about the benefits and risks of medications in an open and honest way.  I do not believe that medications hold all the answers, but rather see them as tools that, when combined with psychotherapy, can be helpful in the pursuit of life balance and mental health.

My psychotherapeutic style is primarily psychodynamic combined with cognitive behavioral elements.  I also utilize mindfulness technique when appropriate.
